The Portuguese Podengo Grande is a big, boisterous sighthound, a true country companion with an independent spirit. These lively dogs are always up for an adventure, their keen senses constantly on alert for anything interesting: a squirrel, a leaf, another dog to romp with. They're surprisingly affectionate with their people, often settling in for a cuddle after a long day of exploring, but they also retain a certain primitive charm, a self-sufficiency forged over centuries of autonomous hunting.
